deerlyBeloved: calamity Part biker chick, part cowgirl; this would be socialite tossed her trust fund to the side in order to get her hands dirty with the people from the wrong side of the tracks. It’s worked out for her though as this sugar mama seems to have a penchant for success in any situation she puts herself into. Sure to light a fire in the bedroom (and possibly the surrounding area), she’s likely to rock your world so long as you let her keep control. Like anything explosive, she should be handled with care, because there is more to this wild filly than just her hot temper and strong makeup game. But unless you are the unique individual that manages to reign her in, expect to wake up to an empty bed in the morning. Fair warning though, if you leave first, well...she’s got a giant weapon enhanced omnic to do her bidding and a flare for revenge.

[ Thing is, she's not wrong. It's just been a long, long time since Jesse had allowed himself that luxury. Ashe isn't the only one apt to leave a bed cold by morning. ]

[ Of course she's bringing it up. He should've expected that. Jesse is grinning even as he feels a familiar flash of warmth at the memory, part embarrassment, part heat. ]

You saying that wasn't the most romantic closet make-out session you've ever had? I must be out of practice.

[ It's her turn to blush. She can't deny that it didn't have it's passion involved. Maybe it had even fulfilled a fantasy she'd had once upon a time. At least, it had been a thought being that close in the previous closet when they were young. ]

To be fair, I don't think I have ever actually made out in a closet before. And I am sure this will come as the biggest surprise of your life, but I also haven't really ever been romanced so, I'm flying blind on that one too.

[ Now that actually does stop him in his tracks. Jesse blinks down at the screen in a way Ashe would probably find funny, if she were there to see it. ]

I don't exactly scream the type of girl who guys feel comfortable giving roses to and asking out on fancy dates. I terrify most men.

Men like that wouldn't be the kind you'd want anyway. Just surprised there hasn't been anybody.

[ After all this time, all these years... though she hasn't been completely alone of course. She's had the gang, had B.O.B. and whatever other friends she's made. He'd just always assumed, without thinking on it much, that she'd have some sort of romance too. With someone as fierce as her maybe, someone who would see that fire in her and be drawn towards it, not scared away. He realizes, suddenly, that he's frowning down at his Fluid. ]

No, I wouldn't. I'm just as happy finding someone attractive and letting them in just enough to meet my needs before moving back to more important things. Not everyone needs to be loved that way.

[ It's not that she doesn't want it, but she doesn't trust opening herself up. Losing people hurt far too much, and betrayal was easier to avoid when you avoided love.

The other text makes her stop. ]

You think so? I mean, you know what my bad side is like, and it's only ever a matter of time before the ugly comes out.

[ Maybe that's true, that she doesn't want anything more. There are people like that. Plenty of them, perfectly happy on their own. But something in his gut tells him that it doesn't quite ring true for Ashe.]

Everybody's got ugly. Doesn't mean there's not somebody out there that'll care for em anyway. So I hear.

[ It's another thing he'd be right about when it came to reading her. But she'd grown accustomed to the idea that it wasn't something she could have and like an envious child she would often insist she didn't want it or need it. ]

Maybe, but I find myself doubtful as the years go by.

And what about you? Not like you're married or even settled. You think there is someone out there for you who is just right?

[ But he already knows she won't take that as a response, so he just goes ahead and replies anyhow. ]

Even if there were somebody, that's no life for me. I stop for too long, my bounty catches up with me. Not really great for the whole picket fence scenario.

I've been staying in one place for near two decades watching my bounty grow and never getting caught. Then again, I guess you'v got the authorities and deadlock out for you.

Authorities, Deadlock, Talon assassins, miscellaneous ne'er-do-wells... take your pick.

[ His baggage comes with him wherever he goes, and it inevitably becomes the problem of whoever is nearby. Such is the life he's chosen.

But you know what he didn't choose? That question. Damn Ashe, he'll need a drink before this is through. ]

[ She considers that response, and it's fair, and maybe not so unlike here. ]

I might have been. But he was too dumb to pick up on anything and I never got the chance to tell him. Figured it was easier to just not get wrapped up in it.

That'd be nice, but B.O.B. is one of a kind. Even with the same model, wouldn't be the same.

[ When she takes her time replying, Jesse has a feeling there's a good story coming. And he's not wrong, even if it is vague. ]

[ Ashe isn't an easy woman to woo, clearly, and some idiot had done it without even trying. And sometime in the past, apparently. He can't help but wonder if it was anyone he'd known. But wouldn't he have noticed if Ashe was swooning that bad over someone? ]

[ She's starting think about shooting him again. Not that she really wants to make it clear, but damn....

She is almost curious to see where this would even go. ]

Yup. Even had a couple of times I was certain he'd make a move. Then he'd just do something stupid and piss me off.

[ The curiosity is starting to really take hold. Out of all the men who'd been in the gang with them, he hadn't thought she'd been that interested in any of them... but maybe he'd been wrong. But how could he have not noticed this? ]

It's no one you're considering.

[ She hadn't been interested in anyone but him. He'd been her best friend and it had developed from there. She'd always thought she would have the time to wait and let him catch up. She'd been wrong and she'd regretted it. Spent a lot of time wondering if his return would have been different if they'd laid better ground work for a more intimate relationship.

Oh well, seemed she wouldn't find out. ]

Has to be, since I can't think of anybody. Not gonna just tell me though are you?

[ Little does she know she wasn't the only one carrying a torch for a certain someone. Maybe they'll have this conversation eventually. Obviously not tonight. ]

[ And because of that, they are both kind of dumb. Or stubborn, or both. And Deerington seemed to be making sure it all got dragged up. ]
